Updated iPhone support documents warn that the handset may suffer adverse affects if used outside certain temperatures.
The document on the Apple Support site reveals that the latest in a line of issues niggling the new 3G S handset seems to be overheating, resulting in some owners complaining of heat-discoloured casings with the white model.
The recommended temperature operating guidelines suggest that the device should only be used between temperatures of -20º and 45º C.
The document spells out that operation outside of this range may cause a number of symptoms, including an inability to charge the handset, a dim display, weak signal lock, and a visual warning saying “iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it”.
It also reminds users to pay special consideration to factors such as prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, leaving the device in the car on a hot day, or using certain apps for long periods.
