HTC HD2 rumoured for next month

The HTC HD2 is rumoured to be launching as early as next month on the UK O2 network

O2 may be launching the HTC HD2, AKA the Leo, on the 12th October.

These latest rumours are a little bit of a stretch to believe if you were expecting the HD2/Leo to launch at the end of the year, but EngadgetMobile.com has it on good authority from a “trusted tipster” that it will be hitting the UK on the 12th October 2009 on the O2 network.

The source claims that this is the launch date listed on O2's intranet site, although we'd be more than happy to welcome the HD2 into the fold on this date, it would still be a little bit surprising to see a widespread launch so soon.

The HD2's spec list is likely to read like many of its high-end competitors, with HSDPA, Wi-Fi and A-GPS all presumed to be on board.

What's more exciting though is the combination of a mammoth 4.3-inch (800 x 480 res) capacitive touchscreen and a tweaked Windows Mobile 6.5 with the TouchFLO 3D UI sat atop.

We're also keen to see how well the Qualcomm 1Ghz Snapdragon processor can handle Microsoft's most recent mobile OS; and if the rumours are correct, we won't have very long to wait now. Fingers crossed, eh.
