The Motorola Droid is set for a European debut under the name Milestone.
The Motorola Milestone will be released with O2 and Vodafone in Germany later this month and will seemingly be an improved version of America’s Droid mobile.
The Milestone is said to come with ‘pinch to zoom’, ‘double tap’ and gesture recognition features, all of which its counterpart across the Atlantic lacks.
The Milestone will be inferior in terms of memory, equipped with only an 8GB card as opposed to the Droid’s 16GB.
The two mobiles sport the same design with a 3.7-inch screen that slides upwards to reveal a Qwerty keypad while both are powered by a rapid 600 MHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor.
Due to its Android platform users will have access to a variety of Google Apps including Google talk, Google Mail, Latitude and YouTube. The smartphone will also allow Microsoft Exchange.
Motorola has stated its wants to expand its Android-based portfolio around the world, prompting many to predict a UK release in the near future.
Although no official dates have been given, Italy is said to be the next to receive the Milestone.
