Google phone coming in 2010

Details of Google's plan to release a phone in 2010 are setting the net on fire, but this burning news smells pretty good

A Google-designed phone could hit shelves as early as the first few months of 2010.
The real surprise is that it’ll run Symbian.
Only joking, it will of course run Google’s own open source Android operating system. Google’s move into handset design is one we’ve been waiting for, but the wait was perhaps a sensible option.
Now that the first few waves of Android devices have come out, Google should have more of an idea of what mobile buyers are looking for in a handset using the operating system.
Exactly what they’ll do with their first phone remains a mystery at this point, but the favoured opinion of the web is that they’ll try to make the ‘ultimate’ Android phone. It’ll have some pretty fierce competition from other manufacturers, but we’re certainly looking forward to seeing what they come up with.
