iPhone game Eliminate runs Quake 3 maps

ngmoco's Eliminate can run Quake 3 maps, but sadly you'll have to have a hacked iPhone to make use of this sneaky feature

Users of jailbroken iPhones have reason to celebrate today because some keen coders have managed to get Quake 3 maps running on ngmoco’s new first-person shooter Eliminate.
You can check out this revelation over at the homebrew forum over at Zodttd, where a user told the iPhone gaming world that Eliminate got on just fine with Quake 3’s PAK map files.
We wouldn’t recommend jailbreaking your iPhone just to get playing these Quake 3 maps, but it’s an interesting sign of what’s to come for Eliminate. It’s clearly been designed to allow for easy bolt-on level packs, so if the audience is there, you can expect reams of levels to start dripping into the game as in-game downloads.
Hopefully there’ll be a few that look a bit different from the game’s usual underplayed, robot-filled aesthetic.
